Until now, that was just our motto. Now it is almost the law.
The German Building Modernisation Act (Gebäudemodernisierungsgesetz, GModG) has been in force since July 2026. It requires building automation for non-residential buildings with more than 70 kW of heating or cooling capacity. The deadline for retrofitting is 31 December 2029.
Among other things, the system must:
- record the consumption of all major trades and systems
- compare it against reference values
- actively report faults
- control the trades together instead of each on its own
For good energy management, none of this is new. Measure, compare, report and control across all systems: that is exactly what our EMS is for.
The only new thing is that it is now mandatory. And that isolated solutions, where every trade has its own app, hardly suffice any more.
Anyone who sets up energy management properly today won’t have to rebuild in 2029.
