Who Owns Your Energy Data

If the EMS runs in the manufacturer’s cloud - who actually owns your energy data?

An uncomfortable question, but an important one. Energy flows reveal a lot: production times, utilisation, shifts, staff presence, site activity, vehicle mileage. Whoever has access to this data knows your company better than you might like.

Many standard EMS solutions send all measurement data to a manufacturer’s cloud. Convenient - until the contract ends, the provider changes the feature set, or raises prices. Or until you ask of what exactly happens to this data.

At enmacs, we’ve made data sovereignty an architectural principle: data stays with the customer. Open standards. No vendor lock-in; you can keep running the system even if we no longer exist tomorrow.

Security and data protection aren’t a compliance checkbox for us. They’re the baseline assumption the system is built on.

The question isn’t whether you trust your EMS provider. It’s whether you have to.
