Peak Shaving – the Underestimated Lever

A single load peak can define the grid charges for an entire year.

What sounds absurd for private households and smaller businesses is reality for most industrial customers. The annual peak power — measured in a single 15-minute window — feeds directly into the demand charge. Go full throttle just once, and you pay for it for twelve months.

The truly annoying part: these peaks are rarely random. They arise when several loads start up at the same time — heat pump + wallbox fleet + production start at 7 in the morning. Largely predictable and often avoidable. But only if a system has the overview.
